Bloggie Amazement

29 Sep

Sometime in the wee hours of the night, someone from somewhere was the 400,000th visitor to this blog.

Whoever you were, we thank you and appreciate you!

Today the total is 400, 405 visitors; that leaves only 99,595 more visitors until my baby blog reaches a half million visitors.

Frankly, I’m gobsmacked.

First, who knew that many people had that much time on their hands to wing their electronic vibes my way, and second, who knew I could sustain an effort long enough for that many people to find me.  ‘Tis an electronic miracle of epic proportions.

And as all miracles of epic proportions have a tendency to do, I am humbled and thankful.

My Blog Turns Four!

27 Jul

Today is the fourth anniversary of this blog – universally known as a blogoversary.

As a toddler, I think this blog is doing pretty good.  I’ve taken good care of it, its never caught so much as a cold, and it created a spin-off during its third year.  It consistently receives between 150-200 readers a day (thank you, readers!).  Considering I don’t post every day, I’m frankly amazed.

So, dear blog, I stole you a digital blogoversary cake; please try not to eat it all at once and give yourself an electronic bellyache!

Mwah!

About 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year. This blog was viewed about 54,000 times in 2010. If it were the Taj Mahal, it would take about 7 days for that many people to see it.

In 2010, there were 110 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 1006 posts. There were 553 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 79mb. That’s about 2 pictures per day.

The busiest day of the year was February 16th with 274 views. The most popular post that day was Celtic Animal Birth Signs.

Where did they come from?

The top referring sites in 2010 were facebook.com, Google Reader, hidingplainsight.wordpress.com, search.aol.com, and twitter.com.

Some visitors came searching, mostly for yggdrasil, celtic birth signs, wheel of the year, goddess, and tear.

Whoop-dee-doo!

Three Years Old (Yesterday)!

28 Jul

Yep.  Missed my Blog’s 3rd blogoversary.  I am ashamed.  Now, I have all sorts of excuses, but I know my Blog will not understand.  The only thing my Blog will understand is…sugar, and lots of it.  In this my Blog and I are completely simpatico.

So I went all the way to The Little Bakehouse in the United Kingdom and bought you not just one, dear Blog, but three fabulous confections, because…we just do not do candles…EVAR.

Are these not the most wonderfulest faerie birthday cakes in the whole of blogdom?  I think so, too.  My Blog loves me once again.  Whew!

My New Blog Look

26 Apr

I like it.  Even I can read the text without having to do a blessed thing.  Maybe I can put off going to the optometrist for a few more months/another year.

This “theme” allows me to use a background image (*SQUEE*!), the custom header is a tiny bit bigger, I get to use a typefont service so I can alter the fonts, and I’ve moved several widgets to the footer.

Yep, I’m pretty pleased.  Still stick, but pleased.  ENT on Wednesday.  Gak.

One Change Can Open Up a Well-Spring

29 Jul

I found a theme that lets me mess with some of the CSS for free and now I can even try to match the background behind the blog and the link font colors to my header if’n I want.  My right hand column is back, I can actually read the blog myself, and the submit button is on the left hand side of the comment section.  And the header is bigger, giving me more room to play.  I declare myself satisfied and I hope all my readers are, also.  Now I can nap in total oblivion until I think of something else to change in my life.  Suggestions and intrusions are welcome.

New Blog Layout

28 Jul

Some of my readers, most especially some of my more space-ially challenged visitors from Mars, have been experiencing trouble with the blog theme I’ve been using for the past two years and I’ve finally taken the time to figure out what to do about it.  It seems I chose the one and only theme which has it’s “submit” button for comments placed on the right side of the column in which it appears, which for some means that it is obscured by the right hand column depriving these individuals of their chance to exercise their right to cause mischief and mayhem in my comment section.

Since I am unable to change this by purchasing the rights the CSS Style Sheets, and being the cooperative and kind witch you all know and love, I decided to try and find a new WordPress theme I could live with — a daunting task, not because there were so many to choose from but because there were too little and the choices are all ugly and boring.

The current theme moves all of the information that was in the right hand column to the bottom of the blog.  Not a terribly convenient location, but this completely eliminates the danger of any more buttons becoming obscured by misbehaving and misaligning columns.

At some point, I’m going to have to find out from Nicole how she set up her blog and perhaps move this site to my own domain.  That sounds so much like a lot of effort and work that I feel exhausted at the very thought.  Certainly the fact that it is nearly 4 a.m. is contributing to this feeling and I must soon resign myself to leaving my darling blog half complete – at least it is now the day AFTER our blogoversary!
