Easter Bunny Honeys

6 Apr

I have to give a shout-out to my West coast friend, Rhiannon, who makes the most adorable, poseable little dolls.  She mostly does flower faeries, but she also does holiday themed dolls as well.  I’ve personally purchased about 20 over the past few years that included bewitching witches and voluptuous mermaids, most of which I have gifted to people in need of a little cheering up.

Check out these Easter bunny honeys!

She has a shop on Etsy, but she does a better business on eBay.  Clicking on any of the photos above will take you to its eBay listing.

Whether you celebrate Easter this year on the 20th of April, or the Spring Equinox on the 20th of March as Ostara or Eostre, Lady Day, the Festival of Trees, Earrach (Celtic for Spring), Gwyl Ganol y Gwanwyn (Welsh), or Alban Eilir (Druidic), Rhiannon’s little ladies are the perfect sweet to add to a young girl’s basket or your sacred altar, and best of all, NO CALORIES!!!

The eBay listings for these adorable honey bunnies ended without a sale and are no longer listed, so if you’re interested in purchasing one from Rhiannon, send her an eBay inquiry by clicking here or visit her on FaceBook.

Kirsty’s Wonderland

15 Jan

A FAETeam feep turned me on to the incredible photography of Kirsty Mitchell.  As fascinating as her images are, her behind-the-scenes peeks into how it all came together are just as fascinating (click the photograph title to read the post for that shoot).

Welcome to Wonderland!

A Gracious Southern Nod

22 Aug

My lovely friend, Lynn, of Southern Belle OOAK, was inspired by THIS BLOG to make this amazing treasury.  A gentle lady who epitomizes Southern hospitality and the cultivation of beauty, this is like getting a gracious nod of acceptance from the highest of North Carolina’s society.  Thank you, Lynn!

Magical Adornments

18 Aug

I love it when someone takes the care and time to make a treasury that is well curated and color-coordinated!  This treasury by Falling Ladies Art is breathtaking — and it features my Faerie Star of the Wind Necklace to boot!

It’s nice to have an “in” with the llamas!

Years ago when I first discovered Etsy, I discovered a fabulous designer located in Austria.  Being geographically challenged, I got confused and thought she was in Australia, but I replaced a few defective brain cells and was declared fit to continue on.

Renate Ikinger started her Etsy enterprise, Kreativlink, making journals similar to the way I make mine, but her processes and capabilities have really matured and grown.  I own about 8 of her earliest pieces, all inked from front to back with witchy notes and pencil drawings of the critters, seen and unseen, who make my home their own.

Nowadays, a new listing in her shop might stay there 3-4 days or a week before it’s snatched up and whisked away to some new and happy home.  And I knew her when!  I couldn’t be more happy to see someone become so successful.

I invite you to visit her Etsy shop and then vote for her in the Poppytalk “Favorite Papergoods” poll which ends January 30th at 11:59 pm.

This is one of her available journals entitled “Winter Tree.”

Compared to Renate, I’m a low-rent amateur, but my love, heart and magic is in every piece of paper I make, every stitch I sew and every line I paint.  Perhaps in time I will divine a few of her methods, but time and practice will reveal the real tricks of the trade.

Inspirational Vision and Technique

Gary sent me the link to this video, which had me in tears before the end.  It’s a “must see.”

Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine’s version of “America’s Got Talent.” She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and “sand painting” skills to interpret Germany’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.

We who have lived in relative peace, prosperity and safety all our lives can’t possibly begin to understand how such tragic vision and beauty like this survives to emerge, but that it does is a testament to the existence of a force greater than ourselves.

1165The World is very old;
But year by year
It groweth new again
When buds appear.

The World is very old,
And sometimes sad;
But when the daisies come
The World is glad.

The World is very old;
But every Spring
It groweth young again,
And fairies sing.
