New Blog Layout

28 Jul

Some of my readers, most especially some of my more space-ially challenged visitors from Mars, have been experiencing trouble with the blog theme I’ve been using for the past two years and I’ve finally taken the time to figure out what to do about it.  It seems I chose the one and only theme which has it’s “submit” button for comments placed on the right side of the column in which it appears, which for some means that it is obscured by the right hand column depriving these individuals of their chance to exercise their right to cause mischief and mayhem in my comment section.

Since I am unable to change this by purchasing the rights the CSS Style Sheets, and being the cooperative and kind witch you all know and love, I decided to try and find a new WordPress theme I could live with — a daunting task, not because there were so many to choose from but because there were too little and the choices are all ugly and boring.

The current theme moves all of the information that was in the right hand column to the bottom of the blog.  Not a terribly convenient location, but this completely eliminates the danger of any more buttons becoming obscured by misbehaving and misaligning columns.

At some point, I’m going to have to find out from Nicole how she set up her blog and perhaps move this site to my own domain.  That sounds so much like a lot of effort and work that I feel exhausted at the very thought.  Certainly the fact that it is nearly 4 a.m. is contributing to this feeling and I must soon resign myself to leaving my darling blog half complete – at least it is now the day AFTER our blogoversary!

Its so grey,, its so white,, it gives me a fright…
The brightness reminds me of the mindflash I see when
I’m just about to hit the asphalt alleyway behind the liquor store on the corner of 5th and Walbash,, while Bubba and his friends go through my wallet…
    Your condescending to a no-nose,, half-witted,,
half-pint,, Alien invader from a dead red planet has me most worried about the future of mankind,, and womenkind too. For if FaerieKat can come under the EVILE spell of that size 4 Ked stomping thing from another world,, what does it say about us mere mortals?
And that’s not mentioning anything about his wearing a starched,, stained,, serrated,, and sequenced second-string cheerleader skirt…
Obviously I have failed to protect you from such Lecter lechery…
I shall now go and drown myself in a vat of twinkes,, along with a dozen Hefner tar-tar tarts………

Alas, this is what happens when you leave me too long to my own devices. Ignore me for too long at your own peril, my most lucid and luscious bard. —– Original Message —–

No more talk of Martians, forget your wide-eyed fears
I’m here, seeking to alarm you of an EVILE that is near you
My words can not harm you,, ment to only charm you.
    Let me roam your Faeriedom
Let fireflies wipe away your tears
I’m over here,, never to be with you
    Never to be beside you
Hoping only to guard you and to misguide you
Kat say you’ll be with me ev’ry blogging moment
Turn my head with whispers in quarter time
Say you’ll hehe at me,, for now and always
Promise me that all you say is mostly true
    That’s all I ask of you…

Step back from the Martian darkness
Let me be your homeless shelter
Let me turn on your nightlight
You’re not safe,, that Martian will still find you
You should fear for he’ll sneak up behind you
All I want is an Earthling’s freedom
A world with no more Red Planet nightmares
Let me lead you from your quantum of solitude
    Say you’ll hehe at me
    For now and always
Promise me that all you say is mostly true
    That’s all I ask of you……….

My most delightful Bard of the Cornstalks

You charming rogue, I do so adore you nearly to the exclusion of all others. You alone have the magic keys to my faerie kingdom and, forsooth, I would vouchsafe them to no other. I would knight thee if I thought your head would not explode from growing any larger, so in your best interests you shall remain first in my affections and Bard above all Bards, guardian of my sacred faerie throne. However, you must suffer some outsiders in my court for the sake of my foreign relations policy, which is to suffer all fools greatly, even if we must suffer greatly. Your warning is both timely and timeless, and shall be entered in the Sacred Archives along with all your other fantastic utterances.

Your loving and appreciative Faerie Queene, ♥Kat

I’m surprised the orderlies allowed GT281 access to the Internet. Nurse Ratchet won’t be pleased.

It’s a nice reorganization. You didn’t have to change your theme… I could have tried adjusting my resolution. It’s not like I comment a lot. But I am most pleased and flattered.

It’s your blog, though. Don’t leave it in this long, thin format for my sake. 😉

This new layout does have two side effects I rather like: A different size header for me to play with and design, and it woke GT out of his beauty sleep, which some may consider a rather dubious benefit, but I do rather cherish the old curmudgeon and absence has made my heart grow fonder. Besides, change is good and keeps the mind flexible — and at 50, I need all the flexibility I can find! —– Original Message —–

A curmudgeon indeed! There is more grave than gravy to me…
Or perhaps I am a bit of undigested Hungarian dwarf beef,,
a blot of mustard,, a crumb of cheese,, a fragment of an underdone Idaho tuber. And we all know about Idaho tubers don’t we?,,
with their wrinkled black eyes,, winking back at one
    from the cutting board…….bruhahahahaha…….(cough-cough)
You really should be more careful of the company you keep,,
else you might end up with a nasty bite on one’s knee…….

Not the tubers!!!!! What a low blow. Curmudgeons happen to be my favorite choice of companion and I don’t eat them unless they ask. Now I’m going to have to change my blog rating from PG to R. Dang! —– Original Message —–

    Hey Kat 😀

It was actually really easy, how I got my blog set up on my own domain.. granted when I set up the blog I should have just made it, not but whatever… at the time was a “splash page” intro to the blog… now theres a nifty code hidden in there that just transfers ppl to the blog page.. Anyway back on topic… I am hosted by dreamhost and with them you get the wordpress software so you just click a button and it installs and publishes… it was really easy… you should check them out.. they’re not too expensive for the monthly fee and I have a coupon code you could use to get a better deal..

Thanks, Nik; I’ll keep this until I’m ready to for the leap.
