Who Kicked the Jews Out of Jerusalem?

12 Jan

My friend, Marvin the Martian, wrote a post not long ago about the situation in the Gaza Strip that boiled down to “the fighting there will never end until one side is driven out or exterminated…the Palestinians lack the means, and Israel lacks the will.”

If you read the post, you’ll see my response boils down to “we really haven’t moved on from the medieval thinking of ‘might is right.’ The State of Israel has the ‘might,’ so they are right…the Palestinians…seek to be ‘right’ through might. Since humanity hasn’t advanced [since] the age of Camelot, I vote we just regress to using effing clubs and rocks.”

Another reader, Bob (our “eye on the sky guy”), left the following comment, which I read today:

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT even think of get me going on terrorists like the HAMAS they are the lowest form of life on this planet, and talk about genocide!!!!!!!!!!!!what about Hitler and the Jews, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. They have every right to their own land, if some one was to try to take my land from me, I would have done a lot more a lot faster then Israel.

Since he thinks the Hamas are the lowest form of life, I don’t think he’s saying the “Jews” are the ones committing genocide (my personal take is both the Hamas and IDF are doing an equally spectacular job in that area).  That means the “they” he thinks has “every right to their own land” must be the Jewish Nation.

In my comment referred to above, I stated, “the Israelites once lived on the land the Palestinians were then living upon” in 1947 when the United Nations created Israel.  After analyzing Bob’s comment, I thought to myself, who exactly exiled the Jewish people from “Israel?”  I googled “exile of Jews from the Holy Land” and began some serious ‘net searching and researching, and I was shocked by what I found.

First, let me clarify something about my own family background.  My maternal Great Grandmother is the daughter of a full Russian Jewish union.  Her mother and father entered the US through Ellis Island from Russia through Poland in the mid-1800s (I have a wonderful copy of the entrance visa) and my Great Grandmother was born in the US in the late 1800s.  Her husband was Jewish (I don’t know where he was from) and his last name was Americanized as “Love.”  My Grandmother, Vivian Love, was born in 1923.  Although she married outside the Jewish faith, Jewish heritage is traced matrilinearly; therefore, my mother would be identified as Jewish, as would I, among people who care about such things.

So, who kicked the Jews out of Jerusalem, the Holy Land, the Promised Land, their homeland?

Answer:  No one!  It didn’t happen.

But isn’t that what you’ve always heard, always believed?  It appears to be what Bob thinks, and I had at least a niggle in my brain somewhere that allowed me to come up with the search phrase I used.  But what is the historical reality?

First, the “exile” is said to have happened during the time when the Romans conquered and occupied Judea, but Roman records prove that they did not exile conquered peoples.  They kept them firmly in place, made them work their own lands, and made them pay exorbitant taxes to Rome that left them little more than slaves.  Oppress and enslave, yes; exile, no.

If they weren’t exiled, how then did they end up “scattered” to the four winds, as it were?

Apparently the Jews were out to convert adherents to their religion as hungrily as the Christians (and why not, they both started out from the same population base!).  In fact, the Jews appear to have been better at it.  Archaeological evidence found in what is today south Russia (where guess who’s Jewish roots shot over to America!) shows that the people of the Khazar kingdom converted en masse to Judaism (and became the genesis of the Ashkenazi Jews of central and eastern Europe).  It even appears that the “long-lost Jewish capital” of the Khazar kingdom was found next to the Caspian Sea, but not a single Israelite is clamoring to get THAT homeland back!

But those Christians weren’t just sitting around on their thumbs, no siree!  It looks like there’s some evidence to support that early Christians recruited later generations of Jews to the “new faith” by spreading the myth the Jews had been exiled from their Promised Land as a punishment from God.  Whoo-hoo!  Now we’re getting someplace!

Historical documents also suggest that many Jewish people simply never left the Holy Land.  WHAT?  Well, if that’s true, whatever became of them?  Their descendents were still just sitting there come 1947 when the United Nations created the State of Israel, only now they were called Palestinians!  Yep, the Palestinians are believed to be the sons and daughters of those long-ago Jewish mamas and papas who stayed behind in Judea and…[gasp!] over time converted to Islam.  That’s right, the Hamas and IDF that are so busily trying to stamp each other into the ground are probably distant relatives!

Now, just where did the idea of the “Jewish State” originate?  Until the start of the 1900s, Jewish people identified themselves as Jewish simply by the fact that they practiced the Jewish religion, not because of their race.  Before the 1900s, I would not have been considered Jewish.  Simply being the female offspring of a Jewish mother would not have made me Jewish; I would have to practice the Jewish faith.  What changed?

Zionism.

Zionist Jews in the early 1900s CREATED a national history for the Jews by inventing the idea that Jews exist as a race separate from their religion.  Up until that point, holy places were to be visited, not lived in.  Jerusalem, the Holy Land and holiest of all holy places, was not even to be returned to (in fact it was forbidden) until the coming of the messiah.  But the Zionists totally turned this idea on its head and said Jews were obligated to return “from exile” to the Promised Land!

Dr. Shlomo Sand, author of When and How Was the Jewish People Invented? and an expert on European history at Tel Aviv University, argues that “most of today’s Jews have no historical connection to the land called Israel and that the only political solution to the country’s conflict with the Palestinians is to abolish the Jewish state.”

I so agree.  Zionism is historical revisionism and historical revisionism is lying, and no one can live a lie without grave consequences; not a government, not even a religion.

And I will happily give up my status of Jewish Princess to further the defeat of Zionism everywhere!

Amazing. I was just having a similar discussion with my parents last week. I told them history was very sketchy in regards to the ‘race’ of the Jewish/Hebrew people. They don’t believe me, of course, but then again they believe dinosaurs and human coexisted 8000 years ago. LOL

    Wonderful read, thanks, Kat! <3xxoo

      Hiya Stacy!

What is even more amazing is the Israeli Jewish population is not upset over Dr. Sand’s book! Remember, while Jews are the predominant religion in Israel, not all Israeli are Jewish; the population includes Muslims, Christians, Druze, Samaritans and others. The only Jewish Israeli to even take on the subject in the press thus far is a Jewish professor of Jewish history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and he didn’t try to refute the facts in Dr. Sand’s book; rather, he defended his profession, the teaching of “Jewish history,” invented or not! Since the article isn’t available in English, I can only go by the reviewer’s summary: that Dr. Bartal suggested “Israeli historians were not as ignorant about the invented nature of Jewish history as Dr Sand contends.”

There is only one thing even more amazing than the Israeli population’s acceptance of their own made-up history, and that is the outrage of US Jews over the mere suggestion. Huh? The Jews in Jerusalem get it and believe it, but the enlightened Jews in America are crying lies, lies and more lies?? Oh, yeah. It’s the Nazis and skinheads making up more lies about the Jews, just like saying the Holocaust never happened either! Persecution, persecution, persecution! Bah-Shiite; excuse me. Dr. Sand, an historian using the time tested, honored and appropriate methods and tools of his profession, the documentation and understanding of history, didn’t make up an historical account of the “Israeli people;” no, he EXPOSED those who did using historical data and proofs. And I say those who can’t face and accept the truth in one area of their life must be living more than one lie.

Now, if we could just get Dr. Sand to expose Rachel Welch and Fay Wray as the giant foot-stomping, dinosaur- and ape-smashing movie lot bimbos they really were, we might have a chance of convincing your parents of the errors of their ways!

      Love ya!

Yes, it’s so funny that anti-Semitism is usually levied by one Semite against another. And all of them squabbling over an unworthy desert land, replete with relatively insignificant history that would have been long since forgotten were it not for the Bible. It would be interesting for a time-traveler to systematically stamp out all the scrolls and letters that were eventually incorporated into the Bible, and see what happens to history then. People would probably simply have found other reasons to kill each other, I think.

Might DOES make right. 😉 Ever has it been, and so shall it be. It cannot be otherwise, sadly. Or, someone else would be mightier, then.

Now I know thou really ART from Mars, ye “mighty” Martian monster! I challenge thee to a joust, ye thrice curs’d cur!

I agree, however, that people would just find new reasons to kill each other. I have a pet theory that mankind is inherently psychotic and psychosis is actually the norm. Being Martian, you should be immune, but you’ve been here awhile and I don’t know how long you can expect to remain immune!

What about Moses and the 40 years wandering in the desert?
Strange is it not that all three of the major religions, Judaism, Islam and Christianity all pray to the same God, and yet hate each other and all want to convert the other or wipe them out. It’s the same God, by different names; it’s only the messenger of God that is different. Each religion follows the same God but in different ways, how to pray, when to pray, what to wear, etc…etc…Seems like they believe the messenger is more important than the message. Since mankind first walked upright, religion has killed more people than anything else except disease, and even that point is argued by many. The only practical solution is to make me King of Kings….
Oh yea, you spelled ‘upon’ wrong….its ‘apon’…..

      You’re alive! *SQUEE!*

I was wondering when you were going to use Puff’s mighty magic breath to unfreeze your fingers from that bottle of cheap scotch so you could, instead, let them freeze apon the communication keys leading to the joyous
      Internet.

Have I said *SQUEE!* yet? *SQUEE!* *SQUEE!* *SQUEE!*

Those are the sounds an overjoyed faerie makes while inhaling all the faerie dust falling from her unused faerie wings!

What about Moses and the 40 years wandering in the desert? Maybe it’s all the faerie dust, but I fail to see your non-existent point.

Want to know what’s even more strange? Those aren’t even the three major religions!

According to http://www.godweb.org, these are the top 10 religions:

      Religion / Members
      Christianity / 2 Billion
      Islam / 1.2 Billion
      Hinduism / 785 Million
      Buddhism / 360 Million
      Judaism / 17 Million
      Sikhism / 16 Million
      Baha’i / 5 Million
      Confucianism / 5 Million
      Jainism / 4 Million
      Shintoism / 3 Million
      Wicca / .7 Million
      Zoroastrianism / .2 Million

I had to go look this up because you made me think, “What about India and China; aren’t they primarily Hindus and Buddhists? And they are jammed wall-to-wall with people.” Who knew Judaism ranked 5th? Not me!

After you wander 40 years in the desert (you have my permission to bring with you a donkey and as much scotch as you both can carry), I will personally crown you King of Kings (I believe you began this journey about 30 years ago, so hang in there!). While you’re gone, I will use my magic to remove the psychotic need to dominate and kill all other human beings from every person’s psyche (even the ones who hide under rocks and especially the ones who comprise the “moral majority”). Then we can both get on with our mundane, happy and carefree lives. Deal?

      Faerie hugz *SQUEE!*

Hi, I have read the comments and really I see a lot of good common sense and generosity. One very interesting remak though is the one that we are all psychotic, maybe but without entering into details I would suggest this reading, it explains extremely well where we are and how, and what to expect for the future.

    Jewish History, Jewish Religion

The Weight of Three Thousand Years By Israel Shahak

published by Pluto Press 1994 ISBN 074530818X

Just google this guy, the book is on google books, he died in 2004, University teacher in Jerusalem, was in a concentration camp in Poland, a humanist and a democrat, he tells us exactly what to expect from Israel.

“The best trick the devil ever pulled was make the world believe he didn’t exist”

Really worth the time, only 112 pages, but really the best book I have read in a while
