Recognizing Signs of a Stroke

15 Dec

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking the person to perform four simple tasks.  Memorize these tasks by remembering “S-T-R-oke-S“:

S = Ask the person to SMILE.

T = Ask the person to TALK and say a simple sentence (coherently), such as “It is sunny out today.”

R = Ask the person to RAISE both arms.

S = Ask the person to STICK their tongue out (straight, without pulling to one side or the other).

If the person has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call an emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Please teach this to your family and friends.  Also, please re-post this and re-post it often.  You could save someone, perhaps someone you love; someone, perhaps someone you love, could save YOU.
