Qntal

I offered a tiny glimpse of Qntal around this time last year (give or take a month or so); here are some even more fabulous videos by this unusual German group.

This video, Von Den Elben, which means “From the Elfin,” was created and directed by Brian Froud (if you couldn’t tell).  This song is from their 2005 album, Silver Swan.

This next video, Entre Moi et Mon Amin, which means “My Love and I Alone” in archaic French, features not only the lovely voice of Syrah, but also a beautiful setting.  It’s from their 2003 album, Tristan und Isolde.

These are the lyrics as translated by alienman3290:

My love and I alone
In a wood near Bethune,
Played together Tuesday
All night there by the moon,
Until the night turned gray
And the lark arising, sang,
As if to say: “Lovers, away”;
And he responded softly:

“So help me love,
The lark lies to us.
It isn’t nearly day,
Sweet, noble heart.”

Then he drew himself to me,
And I did not draw back;
Three times at least he kissed me,
And I returned them back;
Now that did not tire me.
Then how glad we should have been
Had that night lasted one hundred
But we would not need to say:

“So help me love,
The lark lies to us.
It isn’t nearly day,
Sweet, noble heart.”
