“Poetry of Wonder” by Arthur Hinds
Back in April, I wrote a post about Emerald Rose, a Celtic folk rock group. One of the band members, Arthur Hinds, found the post and left a comment that led me to his latest project, “Poetry of Wonder.”
Due to my latest computer woes, I’m only now getting around to checking out this CD and it has proved to be a wonder worth waiting.
Track 5, entitled Pantheon, is one of the best chants I’ve heard in ages. The harmonies are really tight and the drumming is soul-stirring. Not surprising, as Arthur plays the bodhran for Emerald Rose. Absolutely perfect for sabbat fire leaping, twirling and visioning.
My next favorite is Track 9, Greenwood Woman. Arthur drops his voice to such sultry lows, you feel it exactly where you need to with a song such as this – a romantic and powerful ode to all women.
Also don’t want to forget to mention the last track, Sing, which is a druidic feast.
The CD is available at both Amazon and CD Baby, but CD Baby pays the artist better, so that’s where I bought my copy. I hope you decide to check out “Poetry of Wonder,” too.

Well, I found you again. Thank you for your kind words. Would you mind if I save this for my review file or sent folks to you blog? Would you also do me the honor of putting this up on CD Baby and/or Amazon? Once again thank you.
Merry meet again, Arthur!
Most certainly you may do whatever you wish with this post, for it’s in the public domain and I have placed no copyright restrictions upon it (unlike my other blog at http://faeriekatdust.wordpress.com), and it will be MY honor to put it on CD Baby and Amazon. I’m flattered you found it to be worthy of further distribution.
May your recording careers, both solo and with Emerald Rose, continue to be successful and fulfilling.
Goddess bless and faerie blessings,

Hi FaerieKat,
Hoping this finds you well. Have missed you.
I was blessed to Experience the wonder that Is Emerald Rose in my area (Tallahassee) a few years back. I missed them at Dragoncon in Atlanta 2 years ago *sniff*. I hear great things about them from fans & online.
I look forward to making a Special Trip with my family to experience the sensation of these IMHO awesome Musicians & fine Paganfolk.
I feel very fortunate that I “found” Arthur Hinds on Facebook.
It is a delight to hear from him & read his posts. I feel his innate kindness flow through each time he posts.
Looking forward tio buying the new CD. Loved your review lady!
Gentle (((Hugs))) & Blessings Be,
Starra
Addendum:
I meant I look forward to purchasing Arthur’s new CD. *smiles*
Just listened to Greenwood Woman—made me shivery.
What a voice! Wow!

Hi Starra!
How wonderful to hear from you. I confess I am actually afraid to visit my MySpace account; it’s been so long, I know the deluge is going to be overwhelming and I keep putting it off, which is just making my predicament worse — bad Kat!
I agree with you about Arthur’s voice on Greenwood Woman — when he takes his voice into the lower octaves, it really creates a whole new dissonance that’s very sensuous and complex. It’s technically more difficult, but I hope he recognizes the response is worth it and uses it more.
One thing I really miss about New England is Culture. The Orlando area is simply bereft of the fine arts. Anyone with talent is snatched up by the theme parks to work in their insipid shows (and, hey, I occasionally like to go to the parks and see their white-bread shows, but there’s a lot more to life!). There are no RenFaires, no CONS of any kind, no little bars with house bands or soloists, no ballet, no theatre, nuttin’!! Lots of sports, like basketball (yeech!). Although Wendy Rule did come for a very small concert about 3-4 years ago (and of course I was sicker than sick and couldn’t go). Boohoo, boohoo.
However, now I can travel and, if I ever get some money saved up, I might be able to haul my fanny to events I’ve always wanted to attend, like FaerieCon (Woodland will be playing and I adore Woodland), but it won’t happen this year. Sproutwood Farm has a May Day Fairy Festival and I have family and friends who live near the Faerieworlds Festival in Oregon. The UK seems to have a faerie festival every other day (whine whine!).
Well, I’m glad you stopped by, sweetie! Now I have a few new goals to look forward to and dream about — life ain’t too bad as long as you still have your dreams.
Faerie hugz,
Kat
I know what you mean about being bereft of real Culture & Entertainment.
In N. Fl it is much the same. I imagine we have “some” around but I have yet to find anyone that comes close to Emerald Rose &/or Arthur Hinds caliber! *smiles*
I hope to get involved in these things soon (cultural arts). My health keeps me closer to home more & more these days. “It is what it is.”
I want to go to Atlanta’s DragonCon in 2010 with my family. I went in 2007 with my BFF. It was a real blast!
Orlando has a MegaCon now. http://www.megaconvention.com/
I intend to look into this too.
I am so glad you are well enough to travel. That is wonderful news!

Hi Starra!
So nice to hear from you.
I’d love to go to a convention that was faerie or Craft themed. I’m not into gaming or comics, and though I read scifi, I don’t watch it on TV and don’t know the people who are advertised on the site. What is the focus of DragonCon (other than the obvious answer of “dragons”)?
