1.  Who were you with on Thanksgiving?

My three Yorkshire Terriers, who were nursing me through an HAE attack at home.

2.  Who made the Turkey?

My wonderful step-mother, Annette, who is a gourmet cook; she made a goodie basket for me for when I recovered.

3.  Was the Turkey dry?

It wouldn’t dare!

4.  Anyone get drunk or fight on Thanksgiving?

By all accounts, everyone at Annette’s behaved, and my pups were little angels.

5.  Did you watch the Macy’s T-Day Parade?

Forgot all about it!

6.  Did you watch any football?

What’s that?

7.  What type of pie did you eat?

Annette made a pumpkin pie (no whipped creme) and saved me a slice.  It was yuuummmmie!

8.  Any food get burnt?

Are you serious?  That would be sacrilege!

9.  Did you gain weight?

Don’t hate me—I lost weight and it wasn’t fun.

10. Who do you wish had come to T-Day dinner?

That would be…uh…me!

11. Did you go shopping on Black Friday?

Hah, being crushed by frantic, sweaty bodies is not my idea of fun, and I was still not feeling up to walking much, much less running for my life.

12. How much did you spend on Christmas presents this year?

Exactly $12.95 for a subscription to Jacquie Lawson’s website, so I could send out electronic cards (being flat-broke sucks).

13. Who was the hardest person to buy presents for?

No one, if an e-card counts; everyone was a snap, once I found Lawson’s, website!

14. When did you finish buying presents?

I think it was the day after Yule.

15. Did you spend the time between T-Day and Christmas panicked or relaxed?

Very relaxed about the holiday season; a little stressed about my health and some associated expenses.

16. Did you go anywhere for Christmas?

Dontcha know, I had an HAE attack on Christmas (I have wicked awful timing!).

17. Did you have a Christmas tree?

My little 3 foot tree was still up and decorated in the living room from last year; just had to plug it in and, viola!

18. Open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

I opened the gifts I received from my pagan friends on Yule day and the gifts I received from my non-pagan friends on Christmas Eve.

19. What is the best present(s) you got someone?

You’re going to make me say it, aren’t you?  Okay, I scrooged everybody and didn’t give anybody a present.  Satisfied?!

20. What is the best present(s) that you got?

A cute little photo album that looks like a purse filled with photographs of my two lovely nieces.

21. Did you get anything you don’t like?

Snowman Poop!  (I lied, I really liked it; they just sound like something disgusting.  They’re yogurt covered peanuts.)

22. Did anyone seem disappointed with something you got them?

Everybody was very understanding.

23. Anyone get mad or fight/argue on Christmas Day?

Nope; everybody stayed home this year.

24. Anything funny happen?

The pups didn’t even act up.  Yawn.

25. Anyone get drunk?

I told ya, totally boring.

26. Did you gain weight?

Now there’s no chance you’re not going to hate me…lost more weight, but take pity, ‘cuz not being able to eat or keep what you eat down isn’t pleasant.

27. Did you have to work between Christmas and New Year’s?

I wish!  Being medically retired sucks.

28. If not, what did you do?

I wish I could remember!  Oh, yeah, got the news that my PSI application was granted.  Financial problems solved–woo-hoo!

29. What’s the funniest thing you said during the holidays?

If I said anything funny, I was talking to myself and I totally missed it!

30.  Did anyone get mad/drunk/fight during on New Year’s Eve?

Guess who was sick New Year’s Eve.  Right, got it in one!

31. Where were you at midnight?

Beginning to recover after self-administering my first Cinryze infusion at home for an acute HAE attack (yay!).

32.  Did you kiss anyone?

Mickey, Mindy and Teddie, my yorkies (only Mindy kissed me back!).

33. What is your number 1 Resolution?

Go see my Grandmother in Utah this year.

34. Did you get together or break up with anyone during the holidays?

Furthest thing from my mind at this point.

35. Did you make any new friends over the holidays?

Only if you count the myriad of new health care case managers!

Thanks to Stacy and Susen for posting this survey first on their blogs for inspiration.

      Hi Susen

HAE stands for Hereditary Angio Edema. It’s a rare hereditary (obviously!)
blood (angio) complement deficiency of the enzyme C1. C1 is the enzyme
that controls when and where the body swells (edema). Swelling often
occurs in the gastrointestinal system (which prevents one from
eating/drinking and causes horrible pain and dehydration) and can affect
the throat (which can mean death my asphyxiation), as well as the
extremities and face. I have a particularly severe case (low number of
C1); in fact, I am the fourth worst case in the US in a population of about
6,000. There is a website run by our organization: http://www.haea.org.

      Thanks for dropping by!

      Faerie hugz,

      Kat
