A Call for Positive Energy
Since December 12th, when I first read about baby London Marie’s tragic and untimely death, I have been bombarded with negativity. Negative energy from the horrendous act itself is circling the planet. This negative energy is growing daily, fed on a steady diet of vituperative and vilifying sentiment. For my own personal health and sanity, I need this vicious cycle to stop. And I need you to help me stop it.
I believe in the law of attraction. From the first word I blogged, I refused to expend my energy castigating and condemning these children for their ghastly mistakes. I refused to denigrate, belittle or disparage them for being the fragile human beings that they are lest someone heap condemnation, criticism and disapproval upon me for my own errors in judgment.
As a practicing witch, I believe that “what you send out comes back to you; mind, body and spirit.” Wiccans believe similarly, but also in the rule of three: “What ye send out comes back to thee, three times three.” Non-pagans say, “What goes around, comes around.” The best selling book, “The Secret,” supports harboring anger and ire in your heart and mind will only manifest more anger, hurt and disharmony into your life.
By the simple act of blogging the London Marie posts, I invited a magnitude of vicious, scathing, hateful and hate-filled opinions and emotions into my life. This is a responsibility that I accept; the consequences of my decision to educate and inform the public about Shaken Baby Syndrome and the London Marie case have been painful and unhappy. Yet I will persist.
Let me tell you why.
It is in our nature to judge others. We judge people everyday: on their social acceptability, the clothes they wear, the way they speak, the cars they drive, the amount of money they make, the way they wear their hair, and whether or not they brush their teeth. We are a judgmental species. I cannot change that; not even about myself. What I can do is urge people to re-evaluate their snap judgments and knee-jerk reactions. It’s a skill I’ve developed and one you can develop, too. It’s even in your best interests to do so.
What I’m asking you to do is develop empathy. If you can develop the capacity to understand another person’s point of view, or identify with and understand someone else’s thoughts, feelings, state of mind, or motives, your ability to manifest anger, rage, fury, antagonism, hostility, animosity, hatred, enmity, and hostility will be greatly reduced (if not, in fact, eliminated). When these negative emotions and energies are lessened or removed, the mind, body and spirit are automatically more healthy. Then there is room for quiet calm, kindness, compassion, benevolence, caring, love, serenity and peace. Your mind, body and soul will reward you ten-fold for treating them so well.
I ask you, is this not what Jesus of Nazareth taught? That we should do unto others as we would have done unto us? I admire the teachings of Jesus rather a lot. I would rather “kill my enemies with kindness” or “turn the other cheek” than lift a hand against another person, as many of the comments I have received also attest. And yet…
How, if the death of baby London abhors you, can you then in the next breath demand her father’s death in graphic and gory detail? Such thoughts alone are enough to draw vast amounts of unwanted darkness into the very fabric of your life. Then this darkness gets dumped on my blog and I have to deal with it. It really got to me last night; I spent several hours crying my heart out. Partly for the cruelty of the tragedy itself, and partly for the cruelty of people lashing out.
Lest you be confused, I am not saying that I want you to show pity or sympathy for London Marie’s parents and the people who failed her. I am not saying they should be forgiven or not suffer any consequences for their actions. I am not saying that what they did was right, either morally, ethically or spiritually. I am not saying that you are not entitled to your feelings and your opinions.
What I am saying is that positive emotions and energy are better for your mind, your body and your soul. And by extension, your positive emotions and energy are better for the world and for me.

Resources should be available in EVERY state to help avoid these situations , information about resources needs to be distributed to young mothers and fathers when new babies are born .
This incident should be an awakening to everyone of the importance of family and social support BEFORE it becomes such a tragedy .
Therefore to avoid the loss of an innocent life ….if someone had reached out …. anyone …. could a difference have been made ? Maybe we should all consider before we judge or condemn anyone , what we could possibly do in the future to avoid something of similar nature happening .
Regardless of how much everyone now knows – NO ONE immediatly involved took a step forward insure that the child was nurtured and cherished as she should have been .
Learn from it , learn to prevent it , judgement and repercussion will come of it as that is inevitable .The people directly involved are already suffering their repercussions within their mind and being , and still will recieve legal punishment .
Now comes the time for us all to take this as a lesson and all pull together to prevent it from happening within our circle .
If a family member , friend or just a parent appears to need some help maybe we could reflect on Little London and take the time to relieve the parent for a moment to regain there thoughts and composure . Then we have done OUR part , our responsibility starts before the tragedy ……
Thank you Kat for the directive towards positive energy , thats a great example of how one simple thing can change the direction something goes .
Thank you, Darlene
So many people just don’t understand that all this anger that they are so adamant and determined to smash other people up with is really just hurting themselves. It doesn’t touch anybody else. The anger inside them is damaging all of their vital organs and shortening their lives. If they would take that anger and negativity and change it into a calm and positive energy, they would think more clearly and their minds and bodies would be healthier and live longer. People who are centered and grounded with good, positive energy make wise and beneficial choices — for themselves and the people around them.
Josh lashed out when he was filled with negative energy. All of the people who think they are so much better than him, who spew their anger like sewage waste, are in the same frame of mind he was when he made the worst decision of his life. And because their minds are twisted by this hateful negative energy, they cannot even realize it — just like he didn’t — until it was too late.
So thank you for be rational, balanced and sane. There are so few of us left.

I can agree that more awareness and information can help prevent future cases of SBS. And, I agree that it isn’t healthy to experience so much anger and hatred. However, my question is– why does so much anger exist in our society? The root of all negative emotions is FEAR. The opposite of fear, is LOVE. When we feel loved, nurtured, and supported, we do not experience/perceive fear. When we feel unloved, unnurtured and unsupported, we are overwhelmed with fear.
Everyone in this culture is living with a minimum amount of low-grade anxiety due to the fractured, isolated social context we live within.
To truly cure all ills in this world, we need t irradicate fear and nurture love towards all of our fellow human beings.
There is an ancient Native American Indian tale about a grandfather and his grandson. The grandfather tells his grandson that he has two wolves living inside him. One wolf is greedy, jealous and blood-thirsty. The other wolf is gentle, kind and a great leader. The two wolves are constantly at battle with one another.
The grandson asks, “Which wolf do you think will win, grandfather?”
The grandfather replies, “The one that I feed.”
Thank you, Juliet; very beautiful and inspirational comment. I’m thrilled you stopped by and shared your wonderful thoughts and the fantastic Native American story ~~ simply splendid! Kat
